2017 design and decor trends

It doesn’t seem a year since we were ringing in 2016. Now here we are, nearing the end of another year, anticipating what will be the next big thing in 2017. We’ve been seeking out hints from our interior designer pals to bring you just a few of the trends that we will see in the shops in the coming year, and these are just a few of our favourites.

trends 2017 - denim driftDenim Drift –  Dulux announced Denim Drift as they’re must have colour for 2017. The blue-hue is a versatile grey/blue shade.  This calming shade will be sure to add ambience to any room in the home.  It also works rather nicely with our next favourite trend –  natural materials.

Greenery –  Yes nature is here to stay. With the Greenery Pantone’s colour of the year. Think zesty, vibrant and sprigs of new life.

Natural and raw materials –  from raffia to rattan and natural woods to cork –  we’re keeping the natural theme alive and well in 2017.  Think cork walls and hardwood floors.

Nooks and escapes – zoning is set to become the thing for 2017. Essentially this means little areas in the home that you’ve carved out for different activities, such as reading, relaxing etc.  Making a cosy space where you can unwind, away from it all.

So some of 2017’s design trends are focussed on making your home a natural, comfortable space. These are definitely trends that we think we can all embrace. But before we go crazy, it’s good to remember that our homes should be a reflection of ourselves and family. A place that works for us. So no matter what is cool this year, make sure it mirrors your own taste and styles.
